Fountain University Refutes Claims of Encroachment

The management of Fountain University, Osogbo has described as untrue claims making rounds that the institution is encroaching on lands of some families around them.

The Deputy Registrar, Adenekan Sheriff, issued a statement in which he expressed disappointment over news item aired on a television programme stating that families in Osun claimed that the institution is encroaching their lands and destroying farm produce.

He noted that the University did not encroach on any land for expansion purposes nor destroyed any property or farm belonging to individuals or communities in Osogbo.

He said since the University commenced academic activities in January 2008, it has generally enjoyed and maintained a very peaceful and cordial relationship with the host communities.

He emphasized also that the institution is a law-abiding organization and would not do anything against the interest of the host communities who donated the land the university is using for them. He urged the general public discountenance claims of encroachment laid by anybody.
