Judges and Advisory Council have been announced for the N1,000,000 Nigeria Prize for Difference and Diversity. The announced judges include investigative journalist, Kiki Mordi and actress Beverly Naya.

The prize was recently launched with the objective of fostering a culture of inclusion in all spheres of Nigerian life. The winner receives 1,000,000 Naira, in addition to mentorship opportunities and extensive media visibility.

In the call for submission, it was noted that;

The Nigeria Prize for Difference and Diversity seeks to celebrate people who are creating safe spaces for difference and diversity in the culture on a macro or micro level, through their persons or by building communities/organizations. The thematic focus for the Prize is in the areas of mental and emotional health, sexuality, gender, special needs, art, faith and spirituality, and human rights (prisoners, rape, sex workers).

The advisory board— reflecting the prize’s primary objective of celebrating difference and inclusiveness—includes pianist Cobhams Asuquo, media critic Noah Tsika, public health specialist Tony Muthee, sexual health & rights advocate Olumide Makanjuola, writer & artist Lisa Teasley, public health physician & writer Ike AnyaNew Yorker staff writer Larissa MacFarquhar, educator Lin Kobayashi, CEO of All On Wiebe Boer, and vocal mental health professional and advocate Dr Zainab Imam.

The judges include Arit Okpo, Host, CNN AFrican Voice; Nse Ikpe Etim, Actor and TV Host; Educator Ndukwe Igbokwe; Actor and Producer Beverly Naya; Eku Edewor who is also an actor and producer; Harry Itie, Editor, Love Matters Naija; Adebayo Oke-Lawal, Creative Director, Orange Culture, Nigeria; Kiki Mordi, Investigative Journalist and Filmmaker; Dr Gbonjubola Abiri, Nigerian Consultant and Psychiatrist.

Nigeria Prize for Difference and Diversity

The Nigeria Prize for Difference and Diversity invites public nominations of advocates in the following categories:

  • Mental and Emotional Health
  • Sexuality, Gender
  • Specific Needs
  • Art
  • Faith & Spirituality
  • Human Rights

Nominees must be between the ages of 18-35 as at the period of nomination.
