The line for which the subscribers failed to submit their NIN was what the firm said was disconnected. The audited financial figures of MTN were made public on Friday.

Since December 2023, the business claims, it has verified 19 million lines, as mandated by an industry-wide instruction issued by the NCC that required full banning of subscriber lines not linked to their NIN.

4.3 million of these have been authenticated, and as of February 28, 2024, 4.2 million of them have been disconnected.

When asked if the blockage of the 4.3 million lines would affect the company’s revenue, they responded by saying that the disconnected lines would not affect its revenue as the users were of low value.
