Nigeria 3 Most Influential Music Groups Of The Decade (2010 – 2019)

What started as a music/business partnership between Don Jazzy and D’banj morphed into one of the biggest music brands in Africa. Formed in 2006, the record label had a top-notch roster with the likes of D’banj, Don Don Jazzy, Dr Sid, Wande Coal, D’Prince, Kay Switch, and Ikechukwu. Together, they revolutionized pop music in Nigeria and the rest of Africa. There had been music groups before them but none had been able to attain the level of success that Mo’hits had. Their reign was supreme from its creation till 2012 when the group separated due to differences between Don Jazzy and D’banj.

Choc Boyz

The Choc boyz were a rap group made up of Chocolate City artists M.I, Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz and Brymo. The group came to be thanks to the bromance that existed between M.I, Ice Prince and Jesse Jagz. Their first song was Nobody Test Me, a rap banger that dominated the charts and the airwaves. By the time M.I released his sophomore album, Brymo had joined Chocolate City and became a member of the choc boyz. A regular trademark of the group is that there was always a Choc Boy song on the albums of each member of the group. All good things come to an end so the Choc Boyz didn’t last. Brymo was the first to go and Jesse Jagz left shortly after. Though they were around for a short while, their impact was tremendous in the music scene and they played a key role in making Nigerian hip-hop resonate with all types of music lovers.

Two brothers who won our hearts over with their incredible music and amazing dance moves. They started out making theme songs for movies such as Tobi, Mama Sunday, Moment of Bitterness and Evas River. They have released 6 studio albums and won multiple awards over the years. Akon recognized their immense talent and signed them to Konvict music in 2011. It’s quite unfortunate that the duo fell out and moved on to start their independent careers but we can never forget the huge impact that P-Square made, not just in Nigeria, but in Africa as well.
